Joan Moon, Board President

I moved to Colorado in 1989 and have lived in Pleasant Valley since 2012. I have been on the PVNA board since 2015 and President since 2018.

I worked for an educational publisher since 1989 and am pretty much retired now

I lived in a small So. Cal town called Eagle Rock, shut down my business in 2008 & moved into my Dent home in PVNA in May 2008. I bought the Dent home on spec in 1992 for $110,000. I retired very early & have been working on a small cabin in Woodland Park for the past 10 years. We have 3 dogs & no kids.

Carol Corcoran, Secretary

I have served on the PVNA Board as Secretary for  about 10 years.  I’m proud to say that I am a Colorado native and have lived in Pleasant Valley since 1965…one of the old-timers!  Needless to say, I have seen many, many changes in those 54 years, some good and some bad.  I have three children, all of whom graduated from Coronado High School, and four grandchildren, two of whom are presently attending Coronado.  I retired from Shepard’s/McGraw-Hill in 1995.  Before my husband, Jim, passed away, we did a lot of camping and traveling.  Now I enjoy Tai Chi, bowling, reading, and spending time with all my good friends.

In 1972, I transplanted myself from Chicago to Colorado when I attended grad school in Boulder.  After earning my degree, I moved to Colorado Springs in 1973 and worked at Palmer High School.  When Doherty High School opened in 1975, I traveled from the west side to the northeast side.  At Doherty I taught English until I retired in 2003.   In 1977, I moved into the Valley and have been here since then.
Shortly after moving to the Valley, I became active in the Association when a local funeral home wanted to purchase land atop the mesa on the west side of the Valley and develop a cemetery up there.  At that time, there was a house that had access from the Garden and the mortician wanted to buy it and the surrounding land for the cemetery using the former home’s access.  Fortunately, the people in the Valley vociferously objected to City Council, and eventually the City purchased the house and the land and incorporated it into the Garden.
I dropped out for a while and then rejoined the Board in 2017 as the person who maintains the web site and who notifies you of upcoming events on Facebook and Nextdoor.

My husband, Matt and I moved to Pleasant Valley in 2017 with our Irish Doodle pup, Avery.  We could not be happier to be in such a special neighborhood! My background in running events has me excited to be apart of planning fun happenings for neighbors to connect and create community!

I retired from my day-to-day work life on August 2, 2019.  Having lived in the state of Colorado since 1967, I found my long-term home back in the Colorado Springs area in 1994.

I moved into my HUD return to market home in Pleasant Valley in 1997.  What a mess!  Things have turned out very well with my home as everything has been updated through the years.  Good things take time and if nurtured correctly things will ideally turn out well.   The same thing goes for community.  The PVNA group is trying to develop many differing approaches to developing a strong community.  A good group of people working together!

While visiting Colorado Springs from out of town in 2002, my husband and I ended up standing in the middle of Westmoor Park on our way over to  the Garden of the Gods. We said, "This is it. This is the place."

Though it took us several years to make it a reality, we always kept the dream of living in that little gem of a neighborhood we had stumbled upon alive.

We bought our home on Chambers Drive in 2014 and now wake up every morning to Westmoor Park out our front window. I'll never get over how amazing it is to live here.

I'm committed to fostering community in our amazing neighborhood and am honored to come alongside the good folks who have been faithfully serving on this board, doing just that.
