Important Update
The Pleasant Valley Neighborhood Association would like to invite neighbors to join the Association. One of the purposes of the PVNA is to bring people together and create the feeling of community. We live in one of the most desirable neighborhoods in Colorado Springs, and through participating in activities, we get to know our neighbors, and this becomes a more safe and friendly community. There are many new faces right now and we’d love to get to know you!
There is a lot that happens on our side of town that impacts us. We would like to have more members in the Neighborhood Association because having an active group gives us more input with the city regarding things affecting our neighborhood. The more members, the more input we have with the mayor and city council. If we didn’t have an active group, they wouldn’t be interested in hearing from us. The City has included us in discussions regarding the 30th Street Project (projected to start after the July 4 th holiday weekend), the Camp Creek Drainage Improvement Project, and they have listened and responded to our ideas and concerns.
The Association hosts events like Music in the Park, the Valley Rally, the annual Meet and Greet, Easter egg hunt, and Christmas light contest. We also maintain the entrance garden on 31st Street.
We’re looking for additional PVNA board members to help with event planning and the neighborhood watch. We meet once a month for about an hour or two. If you’re interested, please contact us using this link Contact - Mypvna.com .

where do our dues go?

We have been setting up more activities for the neighbors to enjoy. There are many younger families moving here and they have requested more things to do locally. This is the first time we have had something like Music in the Park, and we thought we had a very good turnout for something new. We had over 100 people attend each of the music events even though we had one cut short due to weather. That’s actually a good response for something new, and we expect it to grow next year. Everyone that attended seemed to have a great time. It also gave exposure to local musicians and food trucks.
The larger expenses the PVNA incurs are weed control and maintenance of the entryway garden on 31st Street; mailing costs for membership mailing, bear aware mailing, and event notices; and the cost of putting on the Music in the Park, the Valley Rally, and the Meet & Greet.
We’re having discussions with the parks department regarding improvements that we can work on cooperatively. We’ve gotten quite a bit of input from the PVNA members regarding the improvements they would like to see in Westmoor Park. If we have funds to help the city with our park improvements, we might move up the schedule with the parks department. We’re also working with the Westside businesses to try to get discounts at local businesses for PVNA members next year.
We had money budgeted for the new Neighborhood Watch signs at all entrances to the Valley, permits and insurance for events in the park, and the dumpsters we provided for neighborhood cleanup; however, due to contacts we now have, we incurred no expense for these items. That leaves us with a little better budget for next year’s activities and neighborhood improvements. The small increase in the dues ($5.00) will allow us to provide activities bringing the neighborhood together and to work with the city for improvements here. The PVNA Board would love input from everyone on what they would like to see done.
